Information Session: How Does Global Trade Undermine Climate Justice?

On Oct. 14 as part of the People’s Climate Movement National Day of Action on Oct. 14 people across the country will be coming together to take action on addressing climate change. Join Friends of the Earth and allies from the Connecticut Trade Coalition for an Information Session to learn more about the connections between global trade, climate change, economic justice and public health and how global trade agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will effect local Connecticut residents. The TPP is an expansive free trade agreement the U.S. is currently negotiating with other Pacific rim countries including Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, and Vietnam that if passed, would be the largest international free trade agreement in the world.

This is an educational and informational event open to the public where speakers will discuss the negative consequences that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) will have on climate change and the environment, labor rights, food safety, prescription drug prices and what are possible solutions for how to create a sustainable and just international trade system.
